Ligne(s) 202 : an open-air exhibition in public spaces
An open-air exhibition in public spaces
This Summer, explore contemporary art in a new way with a unique artistic journey through the town of Vevey, in nine bus shelters and one VMCV bus along bus line 202. Ten Swiss artists have been invited to take over and reimagine these utilitarian spaces, each creating a temporary site-specific installation.
Whether poetic, playful, political, atypical, visual, immersive, monumental or performative, all the artworks presented along the route aim to explore current social issues in relation to urban spaces.
Developed by the Culture department of the City of Vevey with the support of the VMCV Public Transports, this contemporary art exhibition invites you to an urban stroll on an original route, allowing you to (re)discover Vevey and its different areas, whether by bus, by bike or on foot.
The ten artists and collectives, representing a diversity of backgrounds and artistic practices, were selected following a call for projects. Their submissions caught the jury’s attention with installation projects that were as monumental as they were sensitive, as intimate as they were participatory, as raw as they were poetic. The artists participating in the call for projects were asked to imagine a temporary installation placing the bus shelter, the ultimate non-place, at the center of their reflection.
